Research

Anna Krohwinkel Karlsson holds a PhD in management from the Stockholm School of Economics. Her dissertation The Soft Time Constraint: Studies of project extension within an aid agency inquires into how governance mechanisms within the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) impact on aid project timing outcomes. The study shows that prioritization and synchronization processes within the agency can explain the duration of project extensions, how extensions are justified, as well as how they are followed up internally. The case study informs a discussion about the fundamental organizational challenges that arise when long-term undertakings are managed in the form of time-limited projects.
Krohwinkel Karlsson’s general research interest concerns time structures and temporal management within and between organizations. She is currently working on a project on Exit and voice in public contracts within the research program Organizing markets.
