Sébastien Picard is Assistant Professor of Strategy at the Toulouse School of Management, University of Toulouse 1. He holds a PhD in Strategic Management from ESCP Europe (Paris), an MSc in management science and a Master in Business Administration. Before joining academia, Sebastien worked as a French Air Force officer and as an entrepreneur in Asia where he co-developed a business in the fashion industry.

Sebastien’s main work focuses on  the temporal dimension of competitive advantage and strategy making. He is interested to explore tensions, contradiction and mutual reinforcements among the temporal forces constituting organizations. More specifically, Sebastien studies the process by which managers produce temporal order to draw and implement organizational actions in uncertainty environment. The innovative dimension of his research lies in its two-way treatment of time, where only the present exists, to highlight the process by which manager can connect the dots both retrospectively and prospectively to ensure organization coherence, understood as a continuity of meaning.
