Karolina Sztandar-Sztanderska is a sociologist. She works as Assistant Researcher at University of Warsaw, she has also worked at Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg. Her research interests includes:

  •     labour market
  •     labour market and social policy
  •     sociology and anthropology of organisations
  •     sociology and anthropology of science.

She currently finalises a PhD thesis on governance of the unemployed in Poland that will be defended in University of Warsaw and Sciences Po de Paris. Her dissertation is based on qualitative study of daily practices of staff of Public Employment Services (PES). The focus is put on actual access to social rights, reproduction of inequalities by PES and techniques of control used to impose a norm of the ideal citizen. At Score, she will use the empirical material from her own research as well as from the European framework project called “Localise: Local words of social cohesion” as a basis for publications.  Her one year stay is financed by a mobility scholarship for young researchers funded by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education. She previously benefited from scholarships granted by the French Government and Polish Foundation of Science.
